News of the formation of PMA Australia – New Zealand was announced at the Fresh Connections Conference held in Sydney earlier this year on 5 May 2009.

FPG’s Managing Director, Mr. Robert Nugan, has been elected to the inaugural board of PMA Australia/ NZ and will join a prominent group of companies who will assist in establishing the organisation on a sound foundation.  

“A common objective for our industry is to strengthen the produce supply chain and build better connections globally. By localizing PMA’s efforts in the Southern Hemisphere we can better achieve particular needs and interests of our industry and improve our global network,” said Mr. Nugan.  

The organisation’s priorities will include: ·        

• Continuing PMA’s successful Fresh Connections networking events
• Introducing Fresh Forums and local workshops that will discuss and share information on hot topics
• Attracting new talent into the industry
• Providing training and education to foster the professional development of existing personnel
• Creating a repository for local consumer information relevant to Australian and New Zealand produce and floral industries

PMA’s first international affiliate will officially commence operations on 1 October. An announcement is expected at the PMA Fresh Summit in California 2-5 October.
